" house statues of the Chakri Kings.
The
2 golden pagodas were constructed by King Rama I in the
homer of his father (southern pagoda) and mother (northern
pagoda).
AngKor Wat
Angkor
Wat is the most famous
monument in Khmer Empire, buit by King Suryavarman 2 between
1113 and 1150 B.C. Angkor Wat was dedicated by Suryavarman
to the dwelling-place of Vishnu God (God of Architecture)
and the temple became his mausoleum . After the religious
revolution introduced by Jayavarman 3 in the 13th century
, the Khmer empire embraced Buddhism and Angkor Wat was
transformed from a Vishnuite shrine to a Buddhist Wat
(a term of Thai origin which means monastery
).
"
Lo Ha Prasart " is the
former name that has been in India since Buddha time, which
means " the building that has the metal vertex on top
". By its legends, the first " Lo Ha Prasart "
was built by the order of miss Visaka to delicate to Buddha
at Bubpharam in India. In B.E. 382, King Tudfakamanee Apai
ordered to build the second "
Lo Ha Prasart " in Sri Lanka, Nowadays, both
of them are collapsed and only their pillars are left. Only
the third one remains perfectly at Wat Rajanaddaram Woravihara
which was built in King Rama lll
era and its prototype comes from the second one in Sri Lanka
but it was modified to be Thai style.
Prasart
Phra Dhepbidorn or Phra Phuthaprang Prasart
King Mongkut began construction of the Phra
Phuthaprang prasart in 1855
B.C. based on the Prasart Thong in Ayutthaya which
he named the Phra Phuthaprang Prasat. The building was originally
intended to house the Emerald Buddha
image but the King died before the building was
completed. King Chulalongkorn continued with the construction
of the
Phra Phuthaprang Prasart and it was
completed in 1882B.C. but because
the building turned out to be too small it was not used
to house the
Emerald Buddha image.

Big
Ben

Big Ben "
is the most famous clock tower in the world. However, "
Big Ben " is actually the name of the largest bell
inside the tower. The official name of the clock tower is
" St. Stephen's Tower "
which forms part of the Houes of Parliament and was used
to be the Palace of Westminster. The
Palace of Westminster was builf in 1049 and was held
there as the first Paliament in 1275 after The Henry VII
chose to live in White Hall. " Big Ben " is thought
that the nsme come from Sir Benjamin Hall who was commissiones
of works when the bell was first installed in 1858.
Thai
style houses
are arranged relates closely to the family structure.
The house begins with a " stem
family " after one of the children gets married.
It is a Thai custom for married men to live with the wife's
family as it is believed that this will cause the least
conflict between the two families. A traditional Thai
house is raised above the ground to a just above head
height. The varying levels of the different sections of
the house are determined by the different functions and
create a flow of space which is almost modern in feel.
The 30 - 40 cm. differences in height are also very suitable
for sitting with the foot resting comfortably on the lower
level, therefore, effecfively turning the upper floor
level into a bench. There are many considerations which
led to a raised house being highly desirable. Firstly,
it provides a sense if security, privacy and shelter.
The
royal coronation cathedral of Notre
Dame is Gothic style
which is the abbey church of Saint Danis with the royal
tombs
and the saint Chapelle in the Kings palace on the Ile-de-la-Cite
which lies on the most important transport route in Paris.
Remains of a vative pier bearing sculptures dating back
to the
reign of Emperor Tiberius were found under the choir and
it can
be asserted that a temple delicated to Roman and Gallic
divinities
stood at the eastern part of the Ile-de-la-Cite. This is
not surpising
knowing that churches were very often built on the site
of old temples
since 1163.
The
Eiffel Tower
In
1884, the French president decided to launch the 1889
World's Fair in Paris to celebrate the Republic's 100th
anniversary. The idea of building
a tower 300 m high was begun by allowance of spectacular
projects competition Gustave Eiffel bought the patent
from his engineers and his team refined the project with
the help of architect Stephone Sauvestre to compete by
his Eiffel Tower. In mid 1886,
a hastily prepared competition lasting 2 weeks (and drawing
107 entries) slected Eiffel's project negotiations could
begin
In January 1887, The contract to build the tower was awarded
to Eiffel, who then had two and a half years to complete
the world's tallest structure.
The
Colosseum
or the Flavian Amphitheater was built in only 5 years during
the reign of Vespasian (75 AD) and was completed and opened
by Titus in 80 AD. The amphitheater is an oval in form.
Its length is 188 meters, its width is 156 meters and its
height is 52 meters. The outside
ring has survived only on the northern side, which is divided
into 4 levels. The first 3 levels had 80 arches and the
forth level, which was
Formed by 80 panels dotted with alternating windows and
3 brackets in each square.
Their brackets were used to hold the wooden beams to which
the large linen awning used to protect spectators from sun
and rain. There were 4 main entrances. The entrances on
the longer axis were for the gladiators. The
Colosseum could hold up to 73,000 spectators. Entering
the amphitheater today, what is immediately striking is
the enormous maze of corridors, which originally were not
visible.
