" Big Ben " is the most famous clock tower in the world. However, " Big Ben " is actually the name of the largest bell inside the tower. The official name of the clock tower is " St. Stephen's Tower " which forms part of theHoues of Parliament and was used to be the Palace of Westminster. The Palace of Westminster was builf in 1049 and was heldthere as the first Paliament in 1275 after The Henry VII chose to live in White Hall.  " Big Ben " is thought that the nsme come from Sir Benjamin Hall who was commissiones of workswhen the bell was first installed in 1858. The precision of the clock movment is controlled by the placing of old pennies in themechanism. " Big Ben " is on the bank of the Thames river. It was designed by Charles Barry and Augustin Puginafter most of the first House of Paliament burnt down in 1834.
